Spike Xu (aka Xu Haitao, born 1990) is an image-centred visual artist based between Chengdu and Helsinki. Working across photography, moving image, installation, and computational or interactive systems, he critically engages with contemporary modes of representation, examining how power and capital operate within different spaces and shape both social perception and the external environment. His work positions images not as neutral records, but as constructed agents embedded within broader structures of control, circulation, and visibility.
